We're looking for passionate, curious people to join Fact Hub Myanmar as volunteer Science Writers, Copy-editors, and Fact-checkers. No prior experience required — just bring your enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
About Fact Hub Myanmar: Founded in 2022, FHMM is a non-profit science communication and fact-checking publication based in Myanmar. We share science knowledge in magazine format — building a community that thinks critically, evaluates information carefully, and challenges misinformation. This recruitment is a direct continuation of our September 2025 batch, expanding the editorial team to take on more ambitious goals this year.
Science Writers research and craft science stories — explainers, news, analysis and columns — making complex research accessible to Burmese-language readers. You'll work within the Content Writer Team under guidance from the Head of Content, Head of Fact-check, and senior editors.
Copy-editors are the guardians of language quality. You'll take draft articles from writers and columnists and polish them to meet FHMM's house style — correcting spelling, grammar, sentence structure, flow, and tone. You'll be responsible for the linguistic integrity of everything FHMM publishes, reporting to the Workflow Coordinator and senior editors.
Fact-checkers are FHMM's last line of defence before publication. You'll rigorously evaluate every manuscript for factual accuracy, source credibility, data integrity, citation quality, and potential for misleading readers — then collaborate with writers and editors to correct whatever needs fixing. You'll sit within the Fact-check Team under the Head of Fact-check.
Above-basic understanding of both Myanmar and English. You should be comfortable reading science-adjacent texts in both languages.
Genuine interest in reading, writing, and critical analysis — plus an interest in how journalism and science communication work.
Ability to meet committed deadlines and work collaboratively with editorial feedback through revision cycles.
You'll need reliable internet and a device to attend online training sessions and use FHMM's digital workspace tools.
Commitment to following FHMM's editorial guidelines, house style, and organisational policies throughout your time as a volunteer.
Eagerness to learn, improve, and actively participate — FHMM is designed to build your skills, but you need to show up for it.
Before you start working, you'll complete a hybrid training programme (self-paced + live sessions) through FHMM's own Learning Management System. Courses vary by role.
FHMM's multi-stage editorial pipeline mirrors how professional publications operate — rigorous, demanding, and deeply educational. You'll know what you're doing and why.
Access to digital tools, an internal resource hub, and a digital library of science literature and references to support your work.
Additional training is added regularly. You'll also get access to expert-led workshops and webinars from professionals connected to FHMM — often free of charge.
Regular appraisal sessions help you understand your strengths and areas for growth — with constructive, personalised feedback from editorial leads.
You can request a completion certificate and a personalised recommendation letter from FHMM leadership to support your academic or professional journey.
